The main objective of this study was to determine the impact of overtime worked in construction processes on the health of the workers and their level of performance, for which it was necessary to determine how the extended working day strategy could improve the management of time and work on site. After carrying out the review of the theoretical bases with which it was possible to establish the state of art, which defined both the research background and the theoretical framework, a representative sample of construction professionals was interviewed to establish their perspective. regarding this situation. The results of the application of the questionnaire were analyzed through descriptive statistics, correlation between questions and factor analysis, which gave the opportunity to establish pertinent inferences and conclusions. With the theoretical and statistical information, a decision diagram was designed to guide the construction site if overtime it to be included as a viable strategy that seeks to improve the management of the site. The results found allowed to define that the extension of the working day, if it is considered prior to the start of the work, should not have a negative impact on the health of the personnel, nor on the work performance, and it is even established that the utility in the building process suffers a marginal loss, and that on the other hand, the decrease in construction times, allows to eliminate the consequences such as the impact of indirect or the possibility of increases or fines for delays, which may have the appearance of unforeseen events in the original of time, for the development of the process. As a main conclusion, it is pointed out that if overtime is carried out, it must be previously considered and never as a last-minute solution. In this sense it will provide positive aspects for both the owner and the builder, but analyzed and accepted in consensus by both, so it should not generate problems for the health or performance of the staff.
