Abstract

Biofuels are taking center stage in the energy scenario because they are renewable, being one of them biodiesel, can be obtained in several ways, among them is the process of transesterification of fatty acids which is a very representative technique due to its ease and practicality, the method used was generated with a constant agitation in a certain time, which turns out to be ideal for obtaining biodiesel from used cooking oil, the results in obtaining biodiesel were applied in an oil lamp, achieving a greater flash point (148 °C) than diesel (71 °C) greater practicality and lower soot concentration (216, 215 and 220 RGB), compared to conventional diesel (65, 64, 59 RGB), a cost analysis was carried out and it was concluded that a low-cost biofuel can be obtained due to the reduction of raw material costs, the latter being the greatest obstacle to the commercialization of biofuel, so it is claimed that a clean biofuel can be generated and that it is simple to produce and efficient in various applications.
