The application of statistical methods in the plastic injection molding industry provides a robust approach for improving manufacturing processes and product quality. In this study, a (2^k) factorial design of experiments (DOE) was implemented to optimize the plastic injection molding process, focusing on a critical quality characteristic: part color. Variations in this characteristic resulted in the production of nonconforming parts, generating annual losses estimated at USD 153,568. A total of 32 experimental runs were conducted, and the experimental data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a 95% confidence level. The results identified the optimal combination of injection time and metering time, significantly improving color consistency and ensuring compliance with the required quality specifications for the molded parts.
