Biocarbon: una revisión de literatura sobre sus propiedades, métodos de caracterización y aplicaciones

El biocarbón es un material carbonoso el cuál se ha utilizado desde hace un largo tiempo, debido al aumento de graves problemas ambientales, así como el deterioro del suelo, por lo que sus aplicaciones varían, como la remediación del suelo, secuestro de carbono, remoción de contaminantes, producción de biocombustibles, mejoramiento de materiales de construcción, entre muchas otras. Se han realizado diversos estudios e investigaciones para mejorar las propiedades físicas y químicas del biocarbón, así como aumentar su rendimiento y eficacia, todo esto lográndolo a un bajo costo y que el biocarbón sea sustentable para futuras aplicaciones. En esta revisión se presentan la diversidad de materia prima y distintos métodos para la obtención del biocarbón, así como sus propiedades, la modificación, su caracterización y sus aplicaciones.
