Materiales geopoliméricos bifuncionales para la remoción de contaminantes en agua

Resumen

El agua es un recurso que es contaminado con fármacos, colorantes y metales pesados provenientes de industrias y hogares, por lo tanto, es más escaso cada día. El agua contaminada debe ser limpiada por tecnologías eficientes y baratas como la adsorción y la fotocatálisis para volver a usarse otra vez. Existen materiales recientemente investigados llamados geopolímeros y pueden ser utilizados en ambas tecnologías para el tratamiento de aguas. En este artículo se investigaron varios trabajos enfocados al uso de geopolímeros como tecnologías adsorbentes y de fotocatálisis; y se compararon con la elaboración de tablas comparativas con características específicas de cada material reportado entre sí para determinar si en verdad pueden tener una bifuncionalidad de tratamiento de aguas por adsorción y por fotocatálisis.
