Resumen

La reconstrucción funcional de defectos craneales implica un gran reto tanto protésico como quirúrgico. El desarrollo de biocompositos ofrecen la posibilidad de personalizar la macro y microestructura de las prótesis que sirvan como andamios tisulares para lograr la reconstrucción y por ende el cierre de defectos craneales con la menor cantidad de complicaciones post operatorias posibles. En este artículo se revisan las propiedades de los principales elementos para lograr tal objetivo, así como los fenómenos biológicos que participan en la regeneración de tejido óseo.
