Aplicaciones médicas de biopolímeros

Resumen

Desde tiempos ancestrales, los biopolímeros naturales han sido de gran ayuda en la biomedicina, debido a la versatilidad de sus propiedades mecánicas, biodegradables y biocompatibles. Se han adecuado para su uso en material médico, empaques, cosméticos, aditivos en alimentos, para fabricar ropa, para tratamiento de agua por químicos, plásticos industriales, materiales absorbentes, biosensores, y hasta en almacenamiento de datos. Son de alta importancia en el campo médico debido a sus características, ya que estas los hace un excelente candidato para su aplicación dentro del cuerpo humano. En esta revisión se llevó a cabo un análisis científico de las aplicaciones biomédicas de materiales biopoliméricos, recopilando algunas de sus aplicaciones las cuales van desde prótesis, hasta la liberación de fármacos en sitios localizados.
