Caracterización quimioestratigráfica en el contacto de las formaciones Buda/Eagle Ford, sobre el Levantamiento Burro- Peyotes, en la carretera Nueva Rosita-Allende

Resumen

 

El límite entre las formaciones Buda e Eagle Ford, marcan en su contacto discordante el cambio de las series Comanche y del Golfo. Esta investigación centra sus objetivos principales en la localización y caracterización quimioestratigráfica de esta relación en un corte estratigráfico sobre el levantamiento Burro-Peyotes; a la par que permite ubicar y denunciar manifestaciones de hidrocarburos en su contacto y apoyar una correlación estratigráfica regional a partir de los datos geológicos y geofísicos. La firma espectral de rayos gamma en perfiles de carbonatos y margas aflorados en cortes de la Carretera 57, Nueva Rosita-Allende, sobre la estructura del Levantamiento Burro-Peyotes, se utilizó para reconocer la arquitectura estratigráfica en el contacto discordante entre las formaciones Buda e Eagle Ford. El conjunto de foraminíferos en el estudio permitió reconocer la transición del Cenomaniano al Turoniano marcada por la extinción de Rotalipora cushmani y la primera aparición de Whiteinella archaeocretacea. A su vez las relaciones de los elementos traza U/Th en conjunción con V/ (V + Ni) sugieren que las secuencias sedimentarias se depositaron en condiciones variables desde oxidantes a anóxicas; proceso que debió ser producto a los cambios de los ciclos cortos de los movimientos eustáticos durante el Cenomaniano-Turoniano. Se destaca para esta zona estudiada como un importante índice de prospección, la salida a superficie de hidrocarburos líquidos entre las grietas de las calizas de la Formación Buda, en el contacto discordante con la suprayacente Formación Eagle Ford.
