Análisis comparativo del área del trazador en tres distribuidores con interior paralelepipédico mediante procesamiento de imágenes

La colada continua requiere un control preciso del flujo en el distribuidor para homogenizar el acero líquido y favorecer la flotación de inclusiones. Este comportamiento se evalúa mediante las curvas de distribución de tiempos de residencia (rtd) y el mínimo tiempo de residencia (mrt), los cuales permiten identificar los regímenes y trayectorias del flujo. En este estudio se propone un método experimental alternativo basado en la inyección de trazadores de color y el procesamiento de video, con el objetivo de analizar la evolución del área del trazador durante el mrt y su relación con la separación de impurezas. Se empleó un modelo físico en acrílico a escala 1:3, diseñado bajo el criterio de similitud de Froude, con un caudal de 13 L/min y registro a treinta cuadros por segundo. Adicionalmente, se compararon tres inhibidores de turbulencia con geometría paralelepipédica regular y diferentes proporciones internas. Asimismo, se realizaron ensayos con polvo de densidad relativa menor que la del agua para representar inclusiones no metálicas y validar las tendencias observadas. En cuanto a los resultados, se pudo ver un avance inicial semejante del trazador en los tres casos y diferencias significativas en la etapa final. El inhibidor C7 presentó el mejor desempeño, con un mrt de 52 s y 1.65 g de polvo arrastrado, seguido de C6 con 56 s y 2.76 g, mientras que C3 fue el menos eficiente con 55 s y 3.2 g. El análisis de aceleración demostró que los inhibidores actúan como amortiguadores hidráulicos que reducen las fluctuaciones y estabilizan el flujo.
