El lado verde de las nanoestructuras de bismuto: revolucionando la nanotecnología con métodos sostenibles

Resumen

La creciente demanda de nanomateriales más seguros y sostenibles ha posicionado a la síntesis verde como una opción viable frente a los métodos convencionales, que a menudo emplean reactivos tóxicos y demandan alto consumo energético. En este contexto, las nanoestructuras de bismuto han cobrado relevancia debido a su baja toxicidad, propiedades semiconductoras y versatilidad aplicativa. Esta revisión analiza los avances recientes en la síntesis de nanoestructuras de bismuto mediada por agentes biológicos, como extractos vegetales, microorganismos y biomoléculas, así como su caracterización morfológica, propiedades funcionales y desempeño en aplicaciones ambientales, particularmente en fotocatálisis y remediación ambiental. Entre los hallazgos reportados, destaca que un método verde permite obtener nanopartículas con morfologías controladas y buena biocompatibilidad, aunque aún enfrentan limitaciones en reproducibilidad y escalabilidad. Se concluye que, pese a los retos pendientes, la síntesis verde de nanoestructuras basadas en bismuto constituye una alternativa prometedora para el desarrollo de nanomateriales sostenibles, siempre que se avance en la estandarización de protocolos y la validación en condiciones reales.
