Abstract

Hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is a plant that is composed of bioactive substances called cannabinoids. According to cientific reports, more than a hundred cannabinoids have been identified, including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN) and cannabichromene (CBC), as the most representative of them. Currently, cannabinoid research has become increasingly important, as these bioactive compounds have been shown to possess properties that can be harnessed in the development of medicinal and therapeutic products. These products aim to meet the demand for alternative treatments for chronic- degenerative, genetic, and neuropsychiatric conditions. The cannabinoid extraction process can be carried out in diverse ways. This document discusses some of the most used techniques, describing the methodology, the equipment required, and finally, their advantages and disadvantages.
