Intelligence is a measurable and verifiable trait, called IQ, which is defined as a global concept that involves an individual ability to act on purpose, to think rationally and according to the environment, this is determined by social, environmental and genetic factors. This has been related apart from other factors such as goal setting, self-control and socioeconomic level, with academic performance. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship of the IQ and its areas with the general grade of the child from 7 to 11 years old in primary school. The research was carried out in the Ejido el Lequeitio in 55 children 25 girls and 30 boys, from 7 to 11 years old, the Wisc-IV Intelligence Test was applied. The Total IQ is correlated with an r2 = 0.06, (p < 0.000). The subtests with the highest correlation were NL and RD, the area with the highest correlation was Working Memory (IMT). These results allow us to establish that these areas of intelligence require greater attention for their training and stimulation to improve their academic performance.
