Abstract

Avulsion is the last stage of tooth extraction, after which the tissues will face the healing period of the surgical wound. Objective: To determine the clinical efficacy of Tisuacryl® versus 3-0 black silk treatment in simple dental extractions. Materials and methods: 53 extractions were performed, 19 for the control group, 15 for the group in which 3-0 black silk suturing was used and 19 in which Tisuacryl® tissular adhesive was used. Advantages and disadvantages of each of these synthesis methods were determined, taking into account wound healing as the main characteristic to be evaluated, followed by infection and pain. Results: In this study we found significative differences favoring the use of Tisuacryl® versus the use of the 3-0 black silk suture as materials for synthesis after performing a simple dental extraction. Conclussion: The use of the Tisuacryl® tissue adhesive is highly recommended after performing a simple dental extraction, since it can offer the patient advantages that other types of suture materials do not have.
