Abstract

Disability is a topic that has been gaining relevance in recent years. Over time, legal systems have increasingly protected the rights of persons with disabilities. The book Federalism and the rights of persons with disabilities by Delia Ferri, Francesco Palermo, and Giuseppe Martinico precisely addresses in a very accurate way what the guarantee of these rights entails through the application of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in federal countries.

Through a very comprehensive study, the authors present the challenges faced in implementing the CRPD. Even though this international treaty has set a new global paradigm in promoting and including persons with disabilities, federal systems have posed some challenges, such as coordinating levels of government in fulfilling the obligations assumed by States.
