Charting the path to effective regulation: Brief analysis on the 2024 European Artificial Intelligence Act

This article offers an exploratory and descriptive analysis of the 2024 European Artificial Intelligence Act. Given the recent nature of this regulatory framework, the study focuses on providing an overview of the structure and scope of the Act. To this end, the relevant regulations and its possible impacts are examined, attempting to outline a comprehensible framework for anyone interested in delving into this subject. Additionally, the study aims to identify areas where regulation may significantly influence the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, with a particular focus on the rights protection and responsibility of the involved actors. Finally, the work reflects the author’s perspective on the content of the Act, seeking to illustrate how this new regulation might shape the future of artificial intelligence both within the European Union and beyond.
