Abstract

The purpose of this work is to promote the recirculation of polyester waste such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) for packaging in a mixture with polyolefins (POs). It was proposed to study and understand the interaction of the recirculated material with two different compatibilizers, which were used individually and in combination. The compatibilizers consisted mainly of copolymers with epoxy functionality and maleic anhydride. Through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and melt flow index (MFI) analysis, the interaction of the coupling agents and the PET / PO recycling material was demonstrated, relating the melting behavior, crystallization and flow ability of the recycled material.
